How to raise

For hydroponic Monstera, you need to use a small soil-grown plant, take the Monstera out of the soil, wash the roots, and try not to damage the roots. Then cut off all the surrounding fibrous roots (do not cut the main root in the middle). Remember to soak the roots of Monstera in a very dilute potassium permanganate solution for about 10 minutes.

Take a glass container and fill it with appropriate amount of clean water so that two-thirds of the roots of the Monstera are immersed in water and the rest of the roots are exposed to the air. Check the condition of its roots from time to time. If everything is normal, change the water once a week until the roots of the Monstera grow enough water roots, and the hydroponic Monstera is successful. Afterwards, replace the hydroponic substrate with nutrient solution and maintain it normally.

Farming methods

1. Hydroponic Monstera likes moisture and needs sufficient water during its growth period. When the weather is dry, you must spray water on the leaves to keep the air moist, which is conducive to the growth of branches and leaves and the bright colors of the leaves.

2. It is advisable to place the hydroponic Monstera in a place with sufficient diffused light indoors. If it is too shaded for a long time, you can add artificial light or keep it in a place with suitable light for a period of time. In winter, the hydroponic Monstera should be placed in a sunny and warm place to avoid cold winds. In the hot summer season, the ambient temperature of hydroponic plants should be <28℃, and it is best to place them in an air-conditioned room.

3. Because the leaves of Monstera are large, heavy containers should be used when hydroponically cultivating it to prevent it from tipping over. Brown spot disease sometimes occurs on the leaves of Monstera deliciosa, and it is necessary to spray it with thiophanate-methyl or carbendazim in time to prevent the disease from spreading.

4. Change the water and clean the container regularly to reduce the competition between bacteria and roots in the water for dissolved oxygen, and increase the dissolved oxygen in the water as much as possible. In winter, replace the nutrient solution regularly every week, and in hot summer, replace the nutrient solution every day, and at the same time reduce the salt concentration of the nutrient solution. At the same time, shake the hydroponic plant bottle frequently to increase the dissolved oxygen in the nutrient solution.

Placement

It is often placed in a corner of the living room, bedroom or bathroom.
