Preliminary preparationWhen choosing Araucaria, it is best to use seedlings. Generally, Araucaria seedlings about 50 cm in size are used. They have good growth prospects, are free of diseases and pests, have dense branches and leaves, and are dark green in color. According to the size of the Araucaria tree, choose a purple clay oval ceramic pot. Araucaria likes light, a humid climate and acidic and fertile soil. Before putting it into the pot, you must first prepare the culture soil. It is best to mix 3 parts of loam, 1 part of leaf mold, 1 part of coarse sand and a small amount of wood ash, and then add a small amount of decomposed organic fertilizer. Specific stepsWhen you start transplanting the Araucaria into a pot, first take the Araucaria out of the original pot and remove a certain amount of soil from the bottom up, but do not remove it completely to avoid damaging the roots. Fill the prepared ceramic pot with 1 to 2 cm of culture soil. After determining the viewing surface, place the tree trunk at one end of the ceramic pot, straighten it, and continue to add culture soil until it is full. Lightly compact the soil with your hands, and then shape the upper part. Upper shapeFirst, cut off the bottom whorled branches, then cut off the two horizontal branches above and below from the left side, cut off one branch each in the front and back, and then stretch the individual branches on the top slightly. You can place some stones of unique shapes and colors on the soil surface to add some interest. Post-maintenance> After completing the shaping, water the Araucaria and loosen the topsoil in time to reduce water evaporation. Water the Araucaria frequently during the growing season, 2-3 times a week, with a penetration depth of 10-15 cm. The soil in the pot should not be too dry or too wet, and then gradually reduce the amount. Spray water on the leaves or around them frequently to increase the environmental humidity and keep the soil moist. To avoid direct sunlight in the summer, you can place the Araucaria in the shade in the shed. When the weather is cold, place the Araucaria indoors at a temperature above 5℃ and it will safely spend the winter. In order to make the Araucaria grow vigorously, spray the leaves of the Araucaria once a month in summer and autumn with a mixture of 0.3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate and feces to keep the leaves dark green. |
