Rose cutting method and precautions (how to make rose cuttings have a high survival rate)

It is actually very simple to propagate roses by cuttings, but it is also very difficult. If the cuttings survive, it is simple, but if they don't, it is difficult. I have seen many people say that roses by cuttings don't survive, and I don't know how they do it. In fact, it is not difficult to propagate roses by cuttings.

Last year, I cut off the rose branches and planted them directly on the mountain. They survived in about a month, and there was no need for rooting water or anything like that. However, for the sake of safety, we still need to pay attention to some matters when we plant rose cuttings.

1. Rose cuttings should be done in season

Winter is the best time for rose cuttings. Many people say that the temperature is low in winter. Why is it the best time? Because less water evaporates in winter, so there is no need to worry about the branches dying of dehydration. Even if they do not take root in winter, they will still take root in spring and the branches will still be green.

In fact, rose cuttings can be done all year round , but you need to create a suitable environment for it. For example, in summer, when the temperature is 40 degrees, can the rose cuttings survive in the sun? They dried up in the sun before they took root, so they should be kept in a ventilated and cool place.

2. Choose the right branches for rose cuttings

It is easier to survive if you choose branches with full buds that are grown that year. I have tried many times before and found that if there is a bud inserted in the soil, it is easy for the bud to grow roots.

So when we cut the branches, we cut off the bottom close to the bud, then pull off the leaves, leaving 1-2 leaves above.

In fact, the buds are hidden under the leaves, and the rose buds emerge from here. Soak them in rooting water for half an hour or directly cut them, water them thoroughly and place them in a well-ventilated place for maintenance.

3. The survival rate of rose transplanting is higher after disinfection

When propagating rose cuttings, especially in this season, the temperature is relatively high, which easily breeds bacteria and makes it easy for rose cuttings to develop black stems.

People who often take rose cuttings will encounter this situation. At this time, we can use meconium-methyl or carbendazim to soak the cross-section of the branches, which will prevent black stems and increase the survival rate.

[ Summary ] If you want to have a higher survival rate for rose cuttings, there are still many details to pay attention to.
