How to grow broad beans in pots on the balcony?

Seed selection

Choose small seeds that grow faster, are of better quality, and have a soft and smooth surface. Among them, fresh broad beans and old broad bean seeds cannot be used for planting.

Soaking and cleaning

Before preparing for sowing, rinse the seeds thoroughly to remove those damaged by borers and those that are incomplete; then soak the carefully selected seeds in water for 24 hours. After 24 hours, pour out all the water and cover them with a wet towel. This is the process of germination. During the germination period, wash the broad beans with clean water once a day. After about 3 days, short sprouts will appear.

Transplanting

When the broad beans sprout small sprouts, they can be moved to a flowerpot covered with two layers of white paper. Can be placed on the balcony. Spray the sprouts with water twice a day to keep the white paper and the broad bean sprouts moist.

Harvest

In about half a month, the small broad bean sprouts will grow to 10 to 15 cm, and they will become green and strong. When the broad bean sprouts become thicker and the color darkens slightly, you can harvest the broad beans.

The above is the method of planting broad beans in balcony pots. Isn’t it very simple? Broad beans are rich in B vitamins and other minerals. Broad beans cannot be eaten raw as they contain certain toxicity. However, cooked broad beans do not contain any toxins, so please feel free to eat them. Broad beans are suitable for almost everyone, but children with favism are prohibited from eating them.
