How to propagate cucumbers

Seed propagation

Cucumber seeds are very tenacious and can grow anywhere they are planted. Relatively speaking, sowing is the simplest and fastest way to propagate cucumbers. However, in order for the cucumbers to grow stronger and the fruits to be more delicious, you must first match the nutritional ratio of the soil before sowing: mix together 4 parts of high-quality garden soil, natural fertilizer, and an appropriate amount of wood ash and superphosphate.

Sowing and transplanting methods

After preparing the seedbed, it is time to sow the seeds. There are two ways to choose, one is to sow seeds and then transplant them. When the cucumber seeds grow to 6-10 cm, they can be transplanted. The other method is hole planting, which is planting directly in the selected location. The specific operation steps are to water the potting soil first, just the right amount. Place the cucumber seeds on the watered soil, cover them with a layer of soil, and press them down briefly. To prevent water evaporation and insufficient temperature from resulting in low germination rate of cucumbers, you can also cover the flower pot with a layer of film.

Grafting

Although the grafting method is relatively difficult, it is a way to improve the disease resistance of cucumbers. The grafted cucumbers not only enhance their ability to resist natural disasters, but also make the root system and plants stronger, thus achieving the advantage of increasing yields.

Pumpkin seeds are generally used as rootstocks for cucumber grafting, either white seeds or black seeds are acceptable. Generally there are two methods: plug-in method and docking method.
