Why does the tiger thorn plum drop its leaves? What should I do if the leaves drop?

1. Unsuitable soil

Euphorbia milii grows best in loose and fertile soil. If the soil becomes compacted and hardened, it will affect the respiration of the roots and hinder the penetration of water, which will lead to leaf shedding. The soil of the plant should be loosened regularly and the pot should be repotted every year. You can prepare the potting soil yourself, usually three parts garden soil and one part slag.

2. Excessive watering

Euphorbia milii is relatively drought-resistant and does not require much water. If you water it too much, the roots can easily be flooded, which will affect the plant's breathing and cause the leaves to fall off. Usually you must pay attention to controlling the amount of water. If you water too much, you need to drain the accumulated water and pay attention to ventilation to accelerate the evaporation of water.

3. Insufficient light

Euphorbia milii will grow and bloom better if it is grown in an environment with sufficient light. If the environment is too dark and the plant does not get light, it will also fall leaves and affect flowering. During the growing season, it needs to be placed in a sunny place so that it can receive sufficient light. In summer, it needs appropriate shade to prevent the leaves from being sunburned.

4. The temperature is too low

Euphorbia milii is not cold-resistant, and if it is frozen in winter, it will lose its leaves. Therefore, before winter, the plants need to be moved to a warm place indoors in time to ensure that the temperature is above 0℃. If the indoor temperature is not high enough, you need to cover the upper part of the plant with a bag, which can also keep it warm. In addition, if the temperature exceeds 15℃, it can still bloom in winter.
