How long is the growth cycle of spinach?

Introduction to Spinach Growth

Spinach is suitable for growing in loose, fertile, slightly acidic soil that can retain water and fertilizer and has good drainage and irrigation conditions. During the process of planting spinach, the surrounding temperature must be strictly controlled to allow spinach to grow in the most suitable environment to promote growth. It is native to Iran and is now widely grown in my country.

Spinach growth cycle

The first-generation hybrid advantage between thornless and thorny spinach varieties is more obvious, and the seed collection volume is large. Therefore, people now use a large number of first-generation hybrids. The methods of producing hybrids include inter-variety hybridization and seed production using female plant lines. Its growth period is about 30-50 days.

Spinach growth rate

Spinach begins to sprout cotyledons from seed germination, and true leaves appear and grow one after another until the seedlings differentiate into flower buds. This is the vegetative growth period. The length of the vegetative growth period and the accumulation of nutrients affect the yield and quality. It can be planted all year round, 35 days for autumn spinach and 45 days for winter and spring.

Spinach growth cycle management

The yield of spinach per mu when planted in a greenhouse is 1,000-2,500 kilograms, and that in a cold greenhouse is 1,000-2,000 kilograms. The yield in protected areas or open fields is slightly lower, at 500-1,500 kilograms. The yield in summer is around 200-500 kilograms. The yield per mu of early spring or outdoor greens can even reach over 5,000 kilograms.

Temperature management: The suitable growth temperature of spinach is between 20-30℃. It likes a mild and humid growing environment. The aboveground part can withstand temperatures above 30℃. At -20℃, the aboveground part will wither. The roots are relatively cold-resistant and can still grow at -30℃.

Fertilization management: Spinach is a green vegetable, its leaves and stems are edible. It requires more nitrogen fertilizer and appropriate potassium and phosphorus fertilizers when planting. It has a strong adaptability to soil, but fertile soil with strong water and fertilizer retention capabilities is better.
