How to grow sunflowers

How to grow sunflowers

1. Soil:

Sunflowers are easy to grow and are not picky about soil conditions. As a home-grown plant, you can use ordinary flowerpot soil and prepare fermented bean dregs as the basic fertilizer for the soil.

2. Lighting:

Sunflowers are suitable for growing in places where sunlight is often exposed. If they are guaranteed sufficient sunlight, they will grow lush and leafy.

3. Temperature:

Sunflowers originated in Brazil in South America. They like warmth and sunshine. They should be sown in spring and autumn when the temperature is around 18℃. They will germinate when the temperature is controlled at 21-24℃. About a week later, seedlings will grow on the small buds. As the temperature gradually rises, the seedlings will gradually grow bigger and stronger.

4. Watering:

Although sunflowers like warmth and sunshine, in the hot summer, you should check the bottom cover of the Huapeng frequently to check the air permeability of the flowerpot. If the air permeability is good, water it every day, and if the air permeability is average, water it every other day.

5. Pests:

Sunflowers are tenacious and generally have no problems with insect pests. When planting, you only need to spray them preventively before germination to ensure that they will not be infested with pests such as aphids, almond bees, and apricot scales.

6. Fertilization:

Sunflower is also a kind of economical and environmentally friendly plant. It does not require excessive fertilizer. Make sure to fertilize it every two weeks and place it in a place with sufficient sunlight every day, and it will bloom in colorful colors and fall petals.

When applying fertilizer, take about 2 grams of phosphorus fertilizer and put it in a spray bottle. Add a large amount of clean water to dissolve it in the water and dilute its concentration so that it is less than 0.5%. This can ensure that the seedlings will not be burned due to excessive fertilizer concentration, and in severe cases, the plants may die.

If you don't have much time and energy to grow plants at home, but want to enjoy the beautiful scenery of blooming flowers on the balcony every day when you come home, then sunflowers are a good choice for you. But you must remember these golden rules.
