How to save the fortune tree if it freezes to death

How to save the fortune tree if it freezes to death

1. Root pruning

Money trees often freeze to death because their roots are damaged. First, remove the plant from the pot and inspect the roots. Rinse the roots with clean water, wash away the old soil and cut off the rotten roots. If the roots are completely rotten, cut them off and let them regrow. After cutting, soak the roots in potassium permanganate solution for disinfection. The solution must be diluted to pink before use, otherwise it will cause damage to the roots. After soaking for 30 minutes, dry and replant. If the upper part of the plant dies, cut it off completely to avoid wasting water and nutrients.

2. Repotting

Choose a new pot of the right size, place broken tiles at the bottom of the pot, and then cover it with a layer of sand to provide good drainage. Then fill it with garden soil and disinfect it before use. Apply rooting powder on the bottom of the money tree, then place it upright in the pot, fill it with soil, compact it, and water it thoroughly.

3. Proper insulation

After replanting, the money tree needs to be placed in an environment with suitable temperature to avoid being frostbitten again. If the indoor temperature is not high enough, you can cover the upper part of the plant with a plastic bag and place it in a sunny place to receive sufficient sunlight at noon, which can raise the temperature. Take off the plastic bag every day to allow it to ventilate properly.

4. Seedling maintenance

It is not advisable to water the money tree too much during the seedling stage. After the soil is dry, add an appropriate amount of water to make the soil in the pot slightly moist. Also, do not apply fertilizer, otherwise the newly grown roots will be burned. After half a month, when the plant starts to sprout, it means that it has taken root and can be maintained normally.
