Disease and Pest Control of Anthurium

Disease and Pest Control of Anthurium

Anthurium diseases: inflorescence rot, leaf spot and anthracnose

Solution: Inflorescence rot, leaf spot and anthracnose are common diseases. When they occur, they can be sprayed with special pesticides. At the same time, all diseased branches and leaves must be cut off. Leaf spot disease can invade through plant wounds and often occurs in humid and warm environments. Excessive nitrogen fertilizer can make leaf spot disease more severe.

Anthurium pests: red spider mites, scale insects, thrips

Red spider mites: Normally, red spider mites will occur in mid-May, with the peak period being from July to August. The most obvious symptom is that the leaves gradually turn white. This disease occurs most often in dry, warm environments and when there is malnutrition.

Solution: You can use special pesticides to spray and kill the insects; at the same time, cut off and burn the branches and leaves that are more seriously infested with insects. Pay attention to the humidity of the environment during daily care and cool the plants in summer.

Scale insects: They usually occur in May, August and November, and mainly harm the leaves of plants.

Solution: You can repeatedly scrub the leaves with detergent water, and then scrub them again with clean water. You can also spray the plants with special pesticides before insect infestations occur to prevent them in advance.

Thrips: June to September is the peak period for this pest. The areas infested by the pests will turn black under the sunlight.

Solution: You can use special pesticides to spray and kill.

If diseases and pests occur in the same year, all diseased and insect-infested branches on the plants should be pruned off after winter.
