How to solve the problem of white leaves of the fortune tree

How to solve the problem of white leaves of the fortune tree

1. Disease prevention and treatment

Reason: Powdery mildew is a common disease of the money tree. When infected, white spots will appear on the leaves and a white mold layer will form.

Solution: First, the diseased branches and leaves should be cut off and disposed of, usually by burning, which may avoid the residue and spread of the pathogen. In addition, the environment around the plants should be cleaned and disinfected, and other agents such as carbendazim can be used.

2. Timely deworming

Reason: Pests that feed on plant sap, such as scale insects, can also cause the money tree to grow poorly and its leaves to turn white.

Solution: For adult insects, if the number is small, you can remove them manually with tweezers. If there are a large number of them, you can wipe them off with a damp cloth or use tape to remove them. Then cut off the branches and leaves that have been infested by pests, or spray the branches with disinfectant. In addition, use imidacloprid to kill the nymphs to prevent recurrence in the second year.

3. Reduce watering

Reason: Excessive water causes the money tree to have poor breathing, which causes the roots to rot and the leaves to turn white.

Solution: Take the money tree out of the pot, carefully remove the soil from the roots, and then cut off the rotten roots. When watering, you should control the amount of water. Water only when the soil is relatively dry. Water thoroughly at one time but do not allow water to accumulate.

4. Proper shade

Cause: Strong direct sunlight burns the leaves, causing them to turn white.

Solution: Shade the upper part of the plant, or move the potted plant to a place with scattered light, which can reduce the adverse effects of too strong light.
