What to do if jasmine leaves are curled and broken

What to do if jasmine leaves are curled and broken

1. Proper shade

Reason: Jasmine grows best in a semi-shady environment. Long-term sunlight is not conducive to growth and may also burn the leaves in summer.

Solution: Move the plant to a cooler place. Jasmine should not be exposed to sunlight for more than 6 hours a day. It is generally best to place it in a bright place in the early morning or evening, and provide shade at other times.

2. Cut off rotten roots

Reason: When there is water accumulation in the flowerpot, it is easy for jasmine roots to rot. Afterwards, the leaves will curl and become dry and broken.

Solution: Pour out the accumulated water in the flowerpot in time. Carefully remove the plant from the potting soil and check whether the roots are rotten. If so, cut them off in time. Replace with new soil with good drainage and place it in a semi-shaded place.

3. Apply thin fertilizer frequently

Cause: Fertilizer burns the roots, which in turn causes the leaves to curl and dry out. This is also a common problem for newcomers to growing flowers.

Solution: Water the potting soil with clean water to dilute the existing fertilizer. At the same time, when applying fertilizer in the future, apply it thinly and frequently. The amount of fertilizer applied at a single time should not be too large. Apply it once every 2-3 days.

4. Pruning branches and leaves

Reason: Too many branches and leaves will lead to uneven light and poor ventilation. Some leaves will easily curl and break if they don't get enough light.

Solution: Prune the jasmine appropriately according to the size of the pot. Prune inner branches, diseased and weak branches, and overlapping branches in time. At the same time, ventilation and lighting should be strengthened.

5. Keep warm

Reason: Jasmine is not cold-resistant. Low temperatures can easily damage the plant, causing its leaves to curl and dry out.

Solution: Keep warm during the winter months when temperatures are low. Potted plants should be brought indoors but can be taken outside to receive sunlight in warm weather.

6. Disease and Pest Control

Reason: Some diseases and pests can cause the plant to grow poorly, which in turn causes the leaves to curl and break.

Solution: Determine the cause of the disease based on the symptoms and spray it with designated pesticides. Pests should be removed promptly and the invaded branches and leaves should be treated.
