Why does the gardenia only grow leaves but not flowers? How to treat it?

Why does the gardenia only grow leaves but not flowers? How to treat it?

1. No pruning

Reason: If the plant grows very vigorously, it will continue to grow leaves and branches. It must be pruned in time, otherwise almost all the nutrients will be absorbed, making it difficult to produce flowers, let alone bloom.

Treatment method: If this phenomenon occurs, the branches and leaves must be pruned in time, so that it can be controlled and the nutrients can be separated to nurture flower buds, which will naturally bloom in time.

2. Excessive watering

Reason: It requires different amounts of water at different growth stages. When the flower buds are forming, the amount of water required is greater than usual, but not too much. The roots should not be kept in water all the time, otherwise the roots will rot, causing the flower buds to fall off, and naturally the flowers will not bloom.

Remedy: If this happens, move it to a well-ventilated place in time to allow the moisture to evaporate. If necessary, remove it from the pot and dry it in the sun. After drying, place it in a pot for maintenance. When watering in the later stage, wait until the soil is dry before watering thoroughly. Just spray water frequently with a watering can.

3. The temperature is too high

Reason: Like other plants, it will hibernate and stop growing in winter, so the temperature required should be slightly lower. If the temperature is still maintained at 20 degrees, the plants will not be able to get a good rest, and when they are ready to form buds next year, they will lack the energy and will not bloom.

Treatment: During the dormant period, just provide it with an environment of 5 to 10 degrees. It will not be frostbitten, and it can also stop growing, so that it will have enough power to continue blooming next year.
