sowing

Seedbed sowing

The seedbed should be made of sandy loam with loose soil structure, low groundwater level, good drainage and rich in organic matter. The seedbed requires fine and flat soil. To prevent the occurrence of diseases and insect pests, the sowing field should be turned over and dried 2-3 times about 25 days before sowing, and the soil should be disinfected with furadan before sowing.

When sowing, water the seedbed thoroughly, mix the seeds with fine sand at a ratio of 1:4, and spread them evenly on the seedbed. Cover them with a thin layer of wood ash after sowing. After watering, cover with 50% shading net and avoid direct sunlight. Transplanting can be done 5-6 weeks after germination.

Plug tray sowing

Sterilization of seeds and medium is important. Before sowing, soak the seeds in a potassium permanganate solution with a concentration of about 0.5% for 1-2 hours. Add 150-200g of thiophanate methyl powder to every cubic meter of medium (about 20 bags), stir 2-3 times to fully mix the drug and the medium, then spray water while stirring to adjust the medium to "hold into a ball, loose but not scattered", cover with film, stack for 8-10 hours and then put into the hole tray.

Each hole tray can be used to sow 200 seeds, with one seed placed in each hole. After sowing, gently squeeze the medium with your hands to allow the seeds to adhere to the medium. Then spray water with a sprayer and cover with newspaper or plastic film. If the nursery can control dryness, wetness and temperature, there is no need to cover it. Keep the newspaper moist for a long time, and turn it over after the seeds germinate.

Cuttings

Cutting season

Cutting propagation can be carried out in spring and autumn. If conditions permit, this can also be done in a greenhouse sunroom in winter.

Cutting method

When cuttings, use a thin bamboo stick with a diameter of about three millimeters to make holes in the substrate in advance, insert the cuttings while punching, and use two fingers to gently compact the culture soil at the base of the cuttings. After cuttings, spray water on the potting soil and cuttings twice every morning and evening with a fine-hole spray bottle.
