Why doesn't gardenia have buds?

Why doesn't gardenia have buds?

1. Fertilizer problem

(1) Specific reason: Fertilizer is very important at every stage of the growth and development of this plant. Sometimes, when we use fertilizers, we don’t pay attention to its type and use too much fertilizer containing N but very little fertilizer containing P and K. Then, the stems and leaves of the plant will grow very fast, which is what we often call leggy growth. However, there are very few flower buds. Moreover, the flower buds that grow out are easy to fall off.

(2) Solution: Check the type of fertilizer used. If this is the case, then you need to change the fertilizer and use more phosphorus and potassium fertilizers.

2. Lighting issues

(1) Specific reason: Light is necessary for the growth of flower buds. If the plant is kept in a very dark place for a long time, the flower buds will be very small and the whole plant will look lifeless.

(2) Solution: Place it in a place with diffuse light to allow it to receive as much light as possible.

3. Root system problems

(1) Specific reasons: If there is a problem with the roots, then problems will arise in the supply of nutrients or water. For example, if there is water accumulation in the pot, or the soil is clumped together and has poor air permeability, the flower buds will not grow.

(2) Solution: Observe the condition of the soil. If there is too much water, water less and avoid water accumulation. If the soil is lumpy, loosen it appropriately.

4. Temperature issues

(1) Specific reasons: Needless to say, the temperature must be suitable for the flower buds to grow. If the temperature is too high or too low, it is easy for flower buds to fail to grow or to have very few in number.

(2) Solution: Specifically, it is better to keep the temperature around 20 degrees, but not too high.
