What to do if white spots appear on Christmas cactus leaves

What to do if white spots appear on Christmas cactus leaves

1. Pests

(1) There is a kind of insect called “scale insect”. It is a common pest with a waxy layer on its body surface that ordinary pesticides cannot penetrate. Therefore, it is quite harmful. After the flowers are eaten by it, white spots may grow on the leaves.

(2) Prevention and control methods: First, we need to adjust the method according to the number of insects. If the number is small, you can brush them off with a brush or scrape them off with a bamboo stick. You can also use tape to stick it off, which is simpler and easier to operate. Then, rinse the plant with water.

If there are a lot of bugs, then we have to spray pesticides. In general, we can use malathion emulsifiable concentrate. When spraying, you need to pay attention to spraying both sides of the leaves evenly, because there may be such insects on the back of the leaves.

Then pay attention to the surrounding environmental conditions. Don't forget to ventilate it at ordinary times, and provide it with light in time to improve its disease resistance. Also, if one flower is already infected, be careful not to let other flowers get close to it to prevent the pests from migrating to other flowers.

2. Diseases

(1) Cause: It is susceptible to a disease called powdery mildew. In the early stages of the disease, some small spots will appear on the leaves of the plant. Then, the spots connect together and appear as a white powder. Generally, the leaves below are more profuse.

(2) Prevention and control methods: First, remove the diseased leaves. Then, we can spray some oxycarboxin solution. In addition, we need to pay attention to the amount of watering and not too much. Also, avoid splashing the water on the leaves.
