How to grow fragrant wood to make it more vigorous?

The shape of the fragrant wood is dignified and graceful, with high ornamental value. The leaves are small and thick, showing a rich green color with a natural luster. Fragrant wood naturally exudes a fresh aroma, which is not only pleasant but also has the effect of repelling mosquitoes. So how can we grow the fragrant wood to make it more vigorous?

1. Seed propagation

The seeds of the fragrant wood tend to fall off after they mature and need to be collected from the tree in time. The seeds are wrapped in juicy pulp. After collection, they should be washed, dried in the shade and stored in a ventilated and dry place immediately. It can be sown in spring and autumn, and the germination rate is higher in autumn. Before sowing, soak the seeds in warm water at about 20°C for 24 hours to promote water absorption and swelling.

2. Cutting propagation

Spring and autumn are suitable for cuttings. Select healthy one-year-old branches from mature mother trees and cut them into cuttings 10-15 cm long. Select a matrix with good permeability, moderate water holding capacity, neutral or slightly acidic pH, and disinfect it. Treat the base of the cuttings with ABT rooting powder for 12-24 hours. Insert the cuttings into the soil to 2/3 depth, cover with plastic film to increase humidity, and after careful management, they will begin to take root after about 45 days.

3. Fertilization management

Fragrant wood is sensitive to fertilizer , and little or no fertilizer should be applied during the seedling stage to avoid burning the seedlings or excessive growth.

4. Leaf drop treatment

Adhere to the principle of "don't water unless the soil is dry, and water thoroughly when you do", and avoid long-term waterlogging or water accumulation in the tray. Ensure sufficient light to prevent leaf drop due to insufficient light. Maintain good ventilation to avoid leaf drop caused by poor ventilation.

5. Disease and pest control

Scale insects are controlled by special pesticides such as cypermethrin and chlorpyrifos. Red spider mites can be controlled by spraying trichloronate, nisolan and other pesticides.

6. Temperature and light

Fragrant wood prefers warm climates and can tolerate short-term low temperatures, down to minus 10 degrees Celsius. The most suitable temperature range for its growth is 20-25℃.

The fragrant wood needs plenty of sunlight to maintain healthy growth, but it should avoid long-term direct sunlight to prevent the leaves from being sunburned. Fragrant wood has a certain degree of shade tolerance, and the lack of direct sunlight for a short period of time will not have much impact on its growth.

The above is an introduction to the maintenance techniques of the fragrant wood. The fragrant wood is a kind of potted plant that many friends have cultivated at home. As long as everyone pays attention to daily management, it can grow well.
