How to propagate fuchsia by cuttings, and in which month to propagate it by cuttings

How to propagate fuchsia by cuttings, and in which month to propagate it by cuttings

1. Cutting time

Its cuttings can be carried out except in summer. Summer is its dormant stage, so avoid it. The most suitable time is around April in spring. Because this is the peak growth season, the plants have strong germination ability, which can increase the survival rate and the rooting speed will be faster.

2. Choose cuttings

When taking cuttings for fuchsia, you should choose branches grown in the current year that are free of pests and diseases, and it is best if they have tender tips on them. The length should be kept between 6-10 cm. Cut off the leaves below and keep the ones above to minimize water consumption.

3. Prepare the matrix

When taking cuttings, just use pure river sand, which will meet your needs. Please note that it must be disinfected before use to avoid the presence of germs and insect eggs.

4. Potting and cutting

When potting cuttings, first use chopsticks or a wooden stick to poke a few small holes on the surface of the river sand, and then put the cuttings in. Don't bury it too deep in the soil, about three or four centimeters will be enough. Also pay attention to the distance between the cuttings, which should be about eight centimeters. Insert the prepared cuttings one by one.

5. Post-insertion management

After completing the cuttings, water them thoroughly in time and cover them with a layer of film to keep them moist. In the later stage, it should be placed in a dimly lit place indoors, and the temperature should be kept at around 20 degrees. Wait a week before increasing the light and spraying water frequently, and roots will take shape soon.
