What to do if rust spots appear on fiddle-leaf fig

What to do if rust spots appear on fiddle-leaf fig

Rusty condition:

At the beginning, there will be spots the size of fingernails, some friends also call it red spots. Slowly, the small spots will grow more and more, and finally connect into one piece, making the entire leaf turn brown, all moisture is gone, and the leaves curl up.

Causes of occurrence:

Rust spots on fiddle-leaf figs are prone to occur when the temperature is high and the humidity is high, especially in Guangzhou and other places from March to June and October to November, which are the peak periods of occurrence. At the same time, these diseases can survive the winter with the plants and will become active again in the second year to continue to harm their leaves.

How to deal with:

1. If the erosion of leaves is serious, it is recommended to cut off the leaves directly;

2. If the whole plant is infected with this disease, you can first remove the diseased part and then change the pot and soil;

3. You can also use special medicine for spraying. If the condition is not serious, you can just use medicine for spraying. If the condition is serious, you should also consider changing the pot and soil.

4. Avoid spraying water on the leaves after rust spots appear.

Prevention methods:

1. Keep the leaves clean during daily maintenance, and wipe them from time to time;

2. The soil for planting should be one with good drainage and air permeability;

3. Ventilation and lighting are very important. Even after the disease is discovered, the affected area should be moved to the sun first.
