Why don't cycads grow new leaves?

Why don't cycads grow new leaves?

The reason why cycads do not grow new leaves

When growing cycads, if new leaves do not grow, there may be several reasons.

The first is long-term indoor farming. When growing indoors, two phenomena generally occur: one is insufficient light, and the other is poor ventilation, which will result in the plant not growing leaves when growing Cycas. Poor ventilation will cause the soil in the pot to become too dry and will also result in no leaves growing.

The second is the problem of soil. The soil in the cycad pot lacks nutrients, causing compaction and hypoxia, making it difficult for the roots to breathe.

The third reason is lack of nutrition and insufficient fertility, which results in the cycad not getting enough nutrients, slow growth, or even stagnation.

The fourth type is that the cycad has rotten roots and no leaves.

Solution to the problem that cycads do not grow new leaves

If the Cycas revoluta stops growing new leaves, first remove the yellow leaves and then replace the soil in the pot. Generally, the soil needs to be replaced with loose soil.

In addition, top dressing is required, preferably with dilute fertilizer water, which can be applied once every half a month. A little ferrous sulfate can be added to the fertilizer.

If the cycad has root rot, the first thing to do is to solve the problem of root rot. Take out the plant, remove the rotten roots, and then replant it.
