Winter care of wintersweet

Winter care of wintersweet

Why should we take care of winter plum carefully in winter?

Winter is the main stage for wintersweet. The goose yellow flowers unfold, and the subtle fragrance is refreshing, making people particularly like it. Of course, special attention should be paid to maintenance in winter.

Wintersweet itself is a relatively cold-resistant plant, so it is easier for it to survive the winter. However, this does not mean that you don’t need to take care of the wintersweet. Wintersweet still needs careful care in winter.

How to care for winter plum

A key point in caring for wintersweet in winter is temperature. Even the most cold-resistant plants have their limits, and wintersweet is no exception. In winter, it is best to keep the temperature of wintersweet no lower than -15℃, and the temperature needs to be no lower than -10℃ when it blooms.

Another key point in winter care of wintersweet is fertilization. Wintersweet needs normal fertilization throughout the winter and spring seasons. Normal fertilization in winter can promote more luxuriant wintersweet flowers and better growth of branches and leaves in the spring of the following year. You can apply some compound fertilizer, it is better to dilute it.

Note that there will sometimes be cold winds in winter, and wintersweet is a plant that is afraid of wind, so it is best to take some wind-proof measures in winter.

Precautions for winter plum maintenance

Winter is an important season for wintersweets to bloom. If you want more flowers to bloom well, take timely measures. Placing the wintersweet potted plant outdoors for a long time can prolong its flowering period. Placing the wintersweet outside during the day and moving it indoors at night will allow the flowers to bloom faster.

After the flowers wither, the wintersweet must be pruned in time.
