What to do if white peony drops leaves

What to do if white peony drops leaves

reason

Normal reaction after repotting

If the leaves start to fall off after repotting, it is normal because the growth environment changes after repotting. White peony needs a certain amount of time to acclimate. Moreover, repotting will damage the root system to some extent, and the succulent itself will consume the lowest leaves to provide nutrients for itself.

Too much watering

Generally speaking, the further back the leaves of a succulent plant are, the more drought-resistant it is, and it is always a good idea to water it dry rather than wet. If too much water is given during maintenance, or the soil has poor air permeability and is kept in a humid environment for a long time, it will easily cause the bottom leaves to fall off.

Diseases

The most serious leaf drop occurs in summer when the weather is hot, which may induce brown spot disease. If the humidity in the maintenance environment is too high, it may also induce symptoms such as rot, which requires timely treatment.

Workaround

Get more sun

The reason for leaf falling may be over-watering and insufficient light. In this case, you need to expose the plant to more sunlight to speed up the evaporation of water in the soil. When you find that the white peony has grown new leaves or the tips of the leaves have turned pink under the sun, it means that it has almost recovered.

Control watering amount

Water the soil only after the soil is dry in spring and autumn. In winter and summer, when the soil is higher or lower, try to reduce watering or even stop watering and keep it in a cool place.

Pest and disease control

In summer, provide timely shading, ventilation and cooling to avoid diseases and pests. When the temperature is high in summer, white peony will enter a short dormant period and fertilization should be stopped. After the temperature drops in autumn, apply a thin liquid fertilizer and reduce the content of nitrogen fertilizer, otherwise it will not be conducive to wintering.
