Cultivation methods and precautions of Begonia

Cultivation methods and precautions of Begonia

1. Lighting

Begonias prefer places with plenty of sunlight and are very intolerant of shade. The crabapple flowers should be placed in a place with good lighting conditions, preferably where they can be exposed to sunlight. Placing crabapple in a cool place is not conducive to its growth. However, during the hot summer weather, appropriate shade should be provided to prevent the sun from burning the flowers and leaves.

2. Soil

Begonias need relatively loose, alkaline soil to grow. You can use the soil from the flower bed or the bottom of the tree roots plus river sand. The depth of the potted crabapple should not be too deep, which is conducive to better extension of the root system. It can be determined according to the size of the plant, generally it is 12 cm away from the pot.

3. Water

Begonia likes a humid environment. When watering, it is best to keep the soil in the pot moist. Water more in the hot summer and do not water in the cold winter. Avoid rain to prevent excessive moisture in the potting soil, which may cause root rot.

4. Nutrients

When sprouting in spring, apply some organic fertilizer to supplement nutrients. After fertilizing, water thoroughly to promote plant growth. In autumn when the leaves fall, apply fertilizer once as in spring. After the crabapple flowers have faded, you need to apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. Normally, you can use some special fertilizers for crabapples.

5. Ventilation

Begonia is cold-resistant and prefers ventilated places. You can usually place the crabapple flowers in ventilated places such as the yard or balcony. If the temperature is particularly low in winter. Take appropriate protective measures.

6. Notes

In order to ensure better growth and flowering of the crabapple flowers, the branches and leaves should be pruned from the time the crabapple flowers fall their leaves to early spring, and weak branches, diseased and insect-infested branches, long branches, and overly dense branches should be cut off. Depending on the specific situation, the sparse branches can also be pruned vertically to promote the growth of more branches.
