Disease and Pest Control of Rhododendron splendidum

Iron deficiency chlorosis

As you can guess from the name, this disease is caused by iron deficiency. But how do we determine whether it is a serious illness? If it happens on new leaves growing on new branches, the leaves will gradually change color and lose their luster at first. If you don't take precautions, they will turn yellow-white, but the veins will still be green. If the medicine is not used in time, the entire leaf will turn yellow and white. In more serious cases, it may burn from the outside to the inside.

This flower likes acid and is afraid of alkali. After planting, do not place it near cement brick walls or lime ground. Once such symptoms are found, iron supplementation is necessary. You can choose to put FeSO4·7H2O directly in the fertilizer, and pull out the stems and leaves of the diseased plants and destroy them collectively.

Crowned web bug

This insect mainly likes to attack the leaf surface. Whether it is an adult or a larva, they will gather on the back of the leaves to suck the juice. Small black spots will appear on the parts that are sucked. This feature can also distinguish it from other pests. Not only that, the back will also appear rusty yellow, causing leaves to fall, and even the failure to form flower buds, resulting in reduced flowering.

In winter, you must thoroughly remove the weeds in the soil, because it is easy for larvae to overwinter in those grasses. If you are sure that this kind of pest has appeared, you must immediately pull out the infested branches and leaves and spray pesticides in time. Prevention and control should be carried out before the first generation of larvae hatch. At this time, the insects have not reached the level of infestation, so prevention and control are easier and can also reduce the extent of the damage.
