Treatment methods for root rot of pennywort

Treatment methods for root rot of pennywort

1. Rescue

Due to excessive watering and improper fertilization, its roots are prone to rot. In mild cases, its growth will be hindered, and in severe cases, the whole plant will die. You can try to salvage it first:

Dig it out of the flowerpot, clear the soil around the roots, find out the rotten roots, cut them off with a sharp tool, and then use 0.1% potassium permanganate to reduce inflammation on the incision. You can also wrap the incision with ash from burnt grass, and then repot it with clean, unfertilized soil to help it grow new roots.

2. Reinsert

If the situation is serious and most of the roots have rotted away, then we can only replant them.

First, cut off a section of its branch, no matter how long it is, it can survive even if it is very short. Remove the leaves on the branch that you plan to insert into the soil, and leave a few leaves on the top. It doesn't matter how many, it doesn't matter much. Place it in a windy and ventilated area to dry for 2 days. This is a step that cannot be missed, otherwise it will rot easily.

Then put it into the prepared clean flower soil and place it in a cool area for two days before exposing it to sunlight. You can also manage it directly as a normal petal plant. After a few days, you will see that its leaves have recovered and it has survived. Remember to expose it to the sun regularly and don't water it all the time.

3. Note

What it can't tolerate most is too wet soil, which can easily cause its roots to rot, and in serious cases it will die, so be sure to pay attention when watering. If it is a rainy season, you can check the weather forecast more often. If there is a possibility of rain, you can postpone watering and wait until it rains to stop watering. This will allow it to grow stronger.
