Disease and insect pest control of broad-leaved red gate orchid

Disease and insect pest control of broad-leaved red gate orchid

1. Sheath Rust

Sheath rust is a common pest and disease encountered by broad-leaved red orchids. It can also be observed very clearly. The spores grow on the leaves and the color is very bright, and it is a relatively conspicuous yellow, orange, purple and black. Of course, in addition to the leaves, there will also be a little on the stems. However, this disease will not cause the death of the plant, so we can choose to cut off the leaves infested with diseases and insects. In addition, two solutions can be used for treatment, one is 500-600 times diluted 65% Zineb powder, and the other is to spray with a reagent containing copper.

2. Sclerotium rot

This disease occurs specifically and is closely related to seasonal rainfall. In seasons with plenty of rainfall, its roots and rhizomes are eroded and covered with numerous hyphae. To treat it, the most common method is to remove the infected soil and then use lime powder or pentachloronitrobenzene. In addition, we must also pay attention to air flow and drainage. Of course, if the plant is seriously ill, we have to abandon our treatment method and we need to burn the seriously diseased plants.

3. Anthrax

Anthracnose is very common and often occurs on plants. It easily occurs in places with hot weather and plenty of rain. The spots on diseased plants are brown and then turn black. In addition, if we want to treat it, we have to use methyl thiophanate. The solubility of the powder is 50%, and the frequency is about once a week. In addition, we also need to spray fungicides once every 15 days.

4. Scale insects

Scale insects are more numerous when it is hot, the air conditions are bad, the humidity is high and the environment is closed. The treatment method is still to spray medicine, but there is another method, which is to use a small brush to brush off these small insects.
