Flaxseed Planting and Harvest Times

Flaxseed Planting and Harvest Times

Flaxseed planting time

Generally speaking, flax seeds prefer a warm growing environment. The suitable planting time is from mid-April to early May each year. It is best not to sow in summer and winter, otherwise the survival rate will be very low.

Flaxseed Harvest Time

After flax seeds are sown, they mature in 80-90 days and can usually be harvested 30 to 40 days after flowering, which is mid-to-late August. However, if flax seeds are harvested too early, the oil content of the seeds will not reach its maximum. If the harvest is too late, the oil will decompose and transform, affecting the quality and yield.

Key points for high-yield planting of flaxseed

1. During the sowing process, flax seeds must be arranged closely and not too crowded, which is not conducive to the growth of flax. But they cannot be too sparse, otherwise the soil space will be wasted, which will reduce farmers' income.

2. Flax seeds are relatively fragile, unlike other plants that have strong vitality. Therefore, before planting, an appropriate amount of base fertilizer can be applied to the soil. During the growth period, top dressing can be applied appropriately according to the growth of the plant.

3. The roots of flax seeds are relatively fragile and are very easy to be harmed by some small insects. Don’t think that these pests are small in size and therefore cause less harm. In fact, these pests are highly corrosive to flax. When harmful organisms are found, pesticides should be sprayed in time.
