Common diseases of Clivia

Common diseases

Some common diseases of Clivia include white rot, soft rot, anthracnose, etc.

Sclerotium rolfsii

When the disease breaks out, irregular spots will appear on the stems near the roots, and the epidermis will be soft. Then many white hyphae will appear, gradually expanding and spreading throughout the plant.

Prevention and treatment methods:

Before potting, disinfect the culture soil. To make it simpler, you can place the culture soil in an environment of 60 ℃ for 24 hours. (It seems a bit difficult to operate at home, so just disinfect it directly)

Observe regularly, cut off diseased leaves immediately if diseased spots are found, and sprinkle lime powder for disinfection.

In the early stage of the disease, use carbendazim powder to water the plants once a week, 2 to 3 times will be enough.

Soft Rot

When the disease breaks out, light yellow spots appear on the leaves, the plants become soft and rotten, and bacterial fluid flows out from the spots.

Prevention and treatment methods:

Once diseased plants are found, pull them out immediately and eliminate them completely. Use a sterilized knife to cut off the rotten parts, provide appropriate light and maintain ventilation.

If the rot is severe, directly remove the diseased tissue, soak it in potassium permanganate solution for 1 hour, then rinse with clean water and dry it, apply wood ash on the incision, and repot it.

anthrax

It often occurs in humid and hot seasons, and the diseased parts are the leaf tips and edges. In the early stage, brown spots appear on the leaves, which gradually expand, and in the later stage, the plants shrink and dry up.

Prevention and treatment methods:

Water appropriately, place the flower pot in a well-ventilated and well-lit environment, and keep the soil moist. Apply appropriate amount of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. If the plant grows in a suitable environment and grows healthily, the probability of disease will be reduced.

Once the plant is found to be diseased, immediately spray it with a solution made of 800 times carbendazim, once every 6 days, and it will be effective in 3 to 5 days . Be sure to discover and treat it early!
