What should I do if my roses are infested with bugs?

1. Rose Sawfly

Damage: Rose stem sawfly is a pest that damages the stems of plants. It can cause branch withering and, in severe cases, death.

Prevention and control methods: When pruning roses in winter, check the roots to see if there are any boreholes caused by pests. After discovering it, you can drop two drops of DDT and then seal the mouth with mud. If young branches are eroded, they need to be removed and burned in a centralized manner.

2. Rose moth

Damage: The larvae of the rose armyworm feed on the leaves of roses. It can also damage flower buds and petals.

Prevention and control methods: The larvae can be caught manually and the adults can be killed with black light. You can also use dichlorvos or cypermethrin, dilute it thoroughly and then spray it.

3. Red spider

Damage: Red spider mites are a common pest. It damages the leaves, sucking the juices from them and causing them to dry up and fall off.

Prevention and control methods: Red spider mites are small in size and difficult to find, and they are very easy to recur, so long-term prevention and control are required. First, remove and destroy the infested leaves, then spray the insects with dicofol mixed with water. The agent should be sprayed on both sides of the leaves once every 15 days.

4. Aphids

Harm: Aphids are also one of the common pests. It appears all year round and is very harmful to young branches and new leaves, causing the leaves to curl and become brittle, and also affecting flowering.

Prevention and control methods: Wipe off the aphids with a brush or wet cloth, and cut off all branches and leaves that have been damaged by aphids. Fallen leaves should be dealt with promptly to reduce the possibility of insect eggs surviving. In addition, you can mix laundry detergent with water and spray it.
