Four seasons maintenance method of dianthus

Four seasons maintenance method of dianthus

Spring Care for Dianthus

Spring is the transition period for plants to turn from the cold winter to growth. Maintenance at this time is particularly important. The first and most important thing is watering. After the spring warms up, water the dianthus once with water close to room temperature to wake it up. Don't water too much, just moisten it and water it thoroughly.

After the temperature rises and stabilizes, move the plant outdoors or to the terrace to receive sunlight without shade.

Of course, you can sow in spring. When the temperature is 15~20℃, sow in pots and seedlings will grow in about 20 days.

Summer care of dianthus

During the high temperature period in summer, it often enters a dormant state and does not require much fertilizer and water, so you can control fertilizer and water appropriately. The interval period is approximately: 3 to 5 days for outdoor maintenance, 2 to 3 days on sunny days or during high temperatures, and can be appropriately extended or combined into one on rainy days or when encountering cold waves; 4 to 7 days for indoor maintenance, which can be appropriately extended or shortened according to weather conditions. Try to water in the morning or evening when the temperature is lower, and keep the leaves dry at night.

Dianthus is afraid of stuffiness and heat, so if you grow it indoors, you must open the windows frequently and it cannot be kept in an air-conditioned room for a long time. It should be moved outdoors for a period of time every now and then.

Autumn care of dianthus

Autumn is the peak growth season for dianthus. Fertilization and watering should be done on a certain cycle. For outdoor maintenance, it should be done about once every four days, once every 2 to 3 days on sunny days or during high temperatures. On rainy days or when encountering cold waves, the period can be appropriately extended or two times can be combined into one, and watering should be done about once every eight days. Keep it indoors and water it every 2 to 6 days, extending or shortening the time period appropriately depending on weather conditions. However, in late autumn, watering should be gradually reduced.

Place the dianthus in a sunny location to receive full sunlight.

Winter care of dianthus

During the winter dormancy period, the most important thing is to control watering and fertilization. Try to water the plants at noon on a sunny day, once every 15 to 20 days. Reduce watering on cloudy days. Try not to apply fertilizer. Applying fertilizer once before winter is enough.
