Cutting method of Euphorbia milii

Cutting method of Euphorbia milii

Euphorbia milii is highly ornamental and grows fast. It is commonly found in public places such as parks and botanical gardens. The commonly used propagation method for Euphorbia milii is cuttings, which have a fast rooting speed and a very high survival rate.

1. Cutting time

When taking cuttings of Euphorbia milii, you first need to choose the right time. Generally, May and June are the best months because the temperature is suitable and the growth rate is fast at this time, so the survival rate of the cuttings is relatively high.

2. Cutting steps

Soil requirements: Euphorbia milii has strong adaptability and does not have too high requirements for the soil. Generally, loose, fertile, breathable and well-drained leaf mold or nutrient soil is chosen. The soil needs to be disinfected before use.

Branch selection: Choose healthy branches for cuttings. Before cuttings, you need to add some wood ash and then apply it to the wounds of the branches. This can prevent the juice of the Euphorbia milii branches from being retained. If you do not use wood ash, you should not cut the branches for cuttings immediately. You need to dry them before cutting.

Cutting method: After the branches are dry, you can start cutting. Dip the branches in rooting agent and insert them into the soil. Water them with appropriate amount of water to promote rooting. If the surrounding climate is mild, they will take root in about 30 days.

3. Maintenance

After the Euphorbia milii cuttings are completed, maintenance and management work needs to be done. It is suitable to move it to a semi-shaded place with good ventilation. Water it every 2-3 days, keep the soil slightly moist but not waterlogged. It will take root in about a month. After the root system grows stably, the plant can be moved elsewhere for maintenance.
