What should I do if the leaves of Phalaenopsis turn yellow?

What should I do if the leaves of Phalaenopsis turn yellow?

1. Too much light

Reason: Light is very important for its growth. But if the plant is exposed to the sun for a long time, it will be sunburned. Because the light is too strong, the water on the leaves evaporates too quickly, resulting in yellow leaves.

Solution: If it gets sunburned, you must control the light. Reduce the time you spend in the sun and lower the intensity of light. Block the light at noon and in strong sunlight in summer, move the plant to a place with scattered light, and maintain it for a period of time before it recovers.

2. Lack of water

Reason: Phalaenopsis prefers a slightly moist environment and is not drought-tolerant. If the air humidity is too low and the soil is too dry, the leaves will gradually turn yellow, which is the common drought-induced yellowing phenomenon, and the leaves will gradually become thinner.

Solution: If the yellowing is caused by drought, the yellow leaves should be cut off. You also need to replenish water, water as soon as possible to make the soil moist, and increase ventilation after watering, which can alleviate the yellowing leaf phenomenon.

3. Root rot

Reason: The yellowing of its leaves is likely due to root rot. Once the roots are rotten, the leaves will become soft, droop, and turn yellow. The roots cannot absorb nutrients, and the leaves will turn yellow due to lack of nutrients.

Solution: If the roots are rotten, remove the plant from the pot and trim the rotten roots. After pruning, the plant must be disinfected, and after the wound is dried, new soil should be applied and the plant should be replanted. In addition, you should pay attention to preventive work in the later stage, use soil with good drainage, and water in moderation to avoid root rot.
