Causes and treatments for yellow leaves of Anthurium

Causes and treatments for yellow leaves of Anthurium

1. Excessive watering

1. Cause: Excessive watering or strong water retention of the soil may cause waterlogging in the soil. Its roots may be soaked and surrounded by water, affecting the breathing of some roots, resulting in a decrease in the ability to absorb nutrients, causing slow plant growth and yellow leaves.

2. Treatment method: Drain in time, ventilate and dry the soil. If it is a potted plant, you can directly remove it from the pot and let it air dry before replanting. If it is planted in the ground, loosen the soil, fill with sand, absorb moisture and reduce watering. Wait for the problem to improve before watering normally.

2. Too much fertilizer

1. Reason: If you apply excessive fertilizer every time, the soil may become compacted and its roots may be burned. This will affect the growth and development of the root system, reduce the ability to absorb nutrients, and lead to yellow leaves.

2. Treatment method: Water in time to prevent excess nutrients from being lost. If the soil is severely compacted, you can repot it.

Use loose, fertile soil for replanting.

3. Pests and diseases

1. Cause: Brown spot is a common disease of Anthurium. If not treated in time, the leaves will turn yellow and the leaf tips will dry out.

2. Treatment method: In the early stage of the disease, you can spray 1000 times or 800 times diluted 50% carbendazim several times. In serious cases, the diseased leaves should be cut off. Be sure to dispose of the diseased leaves to prevent the old leaves from infecting it again.
