Wet and dry techniques

Wet and dry techniques

1. See the dry skills

The trick to seeing the soil dry is to wait until the soil and the inside are relatively dry, and then water. Note that you cannot wait until it is completely dry. There are many ways to judge.

1. Knocking: You can use the knuckles of your hands to gently knock around the flower pot. If it makes a crisp sound, it means the soil in the pot is dry and you can water it. If it makes a dull sound, it means the soil in the pot is still moist and there is no need to water it for the time being.

2. Visual inspection: Observe the color of the surface of the potting soil. If the color becomes lighter and becomes grayish white, it means it is dry.

3. Finger test: You can insert your finger into the soil in the pot about 2 cm. If it feels dry and hard, it means the soil in the pot is dry.

4. Pinch and twist: Gently pinch the surface soil with your hands. If the soil becomes powdery, it means the soil is dry and you can water it immediately.

2. Wetness Techniques

The key to watering is to water thoroughly each time, until water can flow out of the holes at the bottom of the pot. Do not water only halfway, which will result in a situation where the top is wet and the bottom is dry. The roots are mainly at the bottom of the pot. If you only water half of it, it is equivalent to not watering it.
