Causes and treatments for yellowing leaves of Silver Star

Causes and treatments for yellowing leaves of Silver Star

1. Temperature is too high

Reason: It is not cold-resistant, and the suitable growth temperature is between 18-24℃. If the temperature is too high, the moisture in the leaves will evaporate quickly and show signs of yellowing.

Solution: Move the potted plant to a ventilated and cool place for maintenance, and spray some water on the surface of the leaves to allow the plant to cool down quickly. When the temperature is usually high, spray water around the plants frequently to keep the air moist. In addition, the temperature in winter cannot be lower than 10℃.

2. Overwatering

Cause: Most problems with succulents are caused by overwatering. Silver Star likes a dry growing environment and does not require much water. If you water too much, the plant will not be able to absorb enough water, and the soil in the pot will be too moist, causing the roots to breathe poorly and the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: Place it in a ventilated place and use a shovel to loosen the soil slightly to allow the moisture in the soil to evaporate as quickly as possible. During the subsequent maintenance process, the frequency of watering needs to be reduced, and watering is required once a week during the growing period.

3. Unsuitable soil

Cause: If the soil has poor drainage, is compacted, or is barren, the plant will also have the problem of yellow leaves.

Solution: The potting soil needs to be replaced in time, preferably with fertile, loose and well-drained sandy loam.

4. Insufficient light

Reason: It prefers a warm, dry and sunny growing environment. If there is not enough light, the color of the leaves will become dull and yellow.

Solution: You need to move it to a place with sufficient light and provide additional light. It can receive full sun, so it needs to be placed on a well-lit windowsill or balcony for maintenance. But you need to avoid direct sunlight, otherwise the plants will be sunburned.
