Why do lily leaves turn yellow and fall off?

Why do lily leaves turn yellow and fall off?

1. Lack of light

Reason: Lilies are long-day plants, so the amount of light they receive each day cannot be less than 14 hours. Otherwise it will lead to poor growth and yellowing of leaves.

Solution: Place your lilies in a location that gets plenty of light. It can be shaded appropriately at noon, but it is resistant to strong light, so there is no problem if it is not shaded.

2. The temperature is too high

Reason: Lilies are not suitable for growing in high temperature environments. If the temperature is higher than 30℃, they will stop growing and the leaves will lose water and turn yellow.

Solution: Spray water on the lily leaves or sprinkle water on the ground. In addition to evaporative cooling, increased air humidity can inhibit transpiration and allow the leaves to better retain water.

3. Excessive watering

Reason: Lily bulbs are afraid of being flooded. Too much watering will result in excessive moisture or even waterlogging. This can cause the bulb to rot, causing the leaves to fall off.

Solution: Control the amount of water when watering. Avoid keeping the soil in the pot wet for a long time. You can water it after it is completely dry.

4. The soil is too hard

Reason: Lilies do not have very high requirements for soil, but if the soil is hard, water cannot penetrate the roots and will cause the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: General garden soil will harden easily after long-term sun exposure and watering, so it is necessary to loosen the soil. Regularly loosening the soil can keep it loose and also help the roots absorb water.
