What to do if the leaves of the fortune tree turn yellow and droop

What to do if the leaves of the fortune tree turn yellow and droop

1. Increase lighting

Reason: Proper light is essential for the money tree. If there is no light for a long time, photosynthesis will not be possible, causing the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: If you grow a money tree at home, you can place it on the balcony or in a bright living room. It can receive more sunlight in winter and spring, but the afternoon light in summer and autumn is strong and requires appropriate shade.

2. Repotting and loosening the soil

Reason: Ordinary garden soil easily hardens and becomes compacted. It hinders the breathing of the roots of the money tree, causing the leaves to turn yellow and droop.

Solution: Repot the money tree every year and replace the soil with new one. In addition, you can also loosen the soil appropriately every month. Especially in summer, high temperatures can easily cause the soil to dry out, so you should loosen the soil while watering.

3. Increase watering

Cause: Lack of water is the most likely situation to cause leaves to turn yellow and droop. During the growing period, the money tree has a strong demand for water and needs to be watered more often.

Solution: If you find that the soil in the pot of the money tree is dry, water it immediately. When the spring comes and the weather gets warmer, you should increase the amount of water appropriately. In summer, you should water it 1-2 times a day, which is beneficial to its growth. In addition to watering, you can also spray water on the leaves in the afternoon.

4. Apply thin fertilizer frequently

Reason: Insufficient fertilization will lead to poor growth and cause the leaves of the money tree to turn yellow and droop.

Solution: If the yellowing of leaves is caused by lack of fertilizer, do not add large amounts of fertilizer immediately. Instead, use thin amounts of fertilizer to slowly alleviate the problem. Spray a little thin organic liquid fertilizer every week to add nutrients to it without damaging its roots.
