Why do the leaves of Phlox turn yellow and fall off?

Why do the leaves of Phlox turn yellow and fall off?

1. Lack of light

Reason: The philadelphus itself has a high demand for light. If it does not get enough light, its leaves will turn yellow and fall off.

Solution: Place the plant in a well-lit area. It can receive long hours of sunlight every day, but avoid direct sunlight at noon. In addition, appropriate shading is required, and bright scattered light can greatly promote its growth.

2. Too much watering

Reason: The philadelphus cannot be kept in a humid environment for a long time, otherwise it will damage the roots and cause the leaves to turn yellow and fall off.

Solution: Do not water the Schefflera too much on a normal basis. The soil can be slightly dry, but it cannot be kept wet for a long time, and there must be no accumulation of water. Stagnant water will hinder the breathing of the roots and needs to be discharged in time. At the same time, check whether the roots are rotten. If so, cut off the rotten roots, carry out certain disinfection, and then replant.

3. Excessive fertilization

Reason: Excessive fertilization can damage the roots of the philadelphus, causing its leaves to turn yellow and fall off.

Solution: Water in time to dilute the fertilizer in the soil. If necessary, change the pot and soil. When repotting, you need to clean the roots with water first and trim the injured roots to prevent them from rotting and infection. After replanting, use disinfected soil for landfill and do not apply fertilizer for a short period of time. After its roots are well maintained, apply some diluted fertilizer to help its growth.

4. Pest Invasion

Cause: Pests, mainly red spider mites, absorb the sap of the philadelphus plant, causing it to grow poorly and its leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: For insect pests, you must first remove them. You can wipe them with a damp cloth and cut off the branches and leaves that have been infested. Then use pesticides to kill the larvae and avoid secondary recurrence.
