Artificial breeding method of cicada

Artificial breeding method of cicada

Cicada is also called golden cicada and cicada monkey. It is known as Tang Monk meat. It has high nutritional value, is tender and delicious, is deeply loved by people and is in great demand. Here is an introduction to the artificial breeding method of cicadas.

1. Cicada egg treatment

Golden cicada breeding eggs are a necessary condition for the successful breeding of golden cicadas. Large-scale breeding requires purchasing breeding eggs from regular professional farms. Tie the cicada egg-laying branches into bundles of 50-100 each, and then place them in pots or on the ground. After special treatment, 2-3 egg-laying branches can be buried per square meter.

2. Planting egg branches

It is crucial to choose healthy tree species with well-developed root systems, dense growth and rich juice for planting, which is crucial to improving the efficiency and yield of cicada farming. Loose and moist soil areas such as willow trees and apple orchards are suitable for planting, or you can choose places where there were more cicada monkeys in the previous year to bury egg branches. Dig a 3 cm deep trench in a suitable location, bury the egg branches, cover with soil and tamp it down.

3. Incubation conditions

The temperature of cicada eggs should generally be controlled at 25-35℃. The temperature should not be too high, as it will cause the eggs to die. Of course, too low a temperature is not good either. In autumn and winter, people usually plant cicada eggs and do land work, and then hatch and breed them during the Spring Festival. During the incubation process, a sprayer can be used to spray water on the eggs to keep them moist and maintain a suitable humidity, which can increase the hatching rate of cicadas.

4. Moisture control

The most feared thing in the process of breeding cicadas is flooding, but they are not afraid of drought. So I would like to remind everyone that when breeding, you must pay attention to the accumulation of water in the breeding forest. If you find that it is too wet for a long time or there is too much water. Then it is necessary to take appropriate measures to solve the problem in time, such as digging drainage ditches or choosing relatively dry land for breeding. Although it is relatively drought-resistant, try not to let it be too dry. After all, drought will cause the soil to become very hard and will cause the trees to grow poorly. The food source of the larvae will be affected, and in severe cases, it may even lead to the death of the cicada. Therefore, it is necessary to observe the dryness of the soil in time and water it appropriately.

5. Manual weeding

During the breeding process, you also need to pay attention to some details. For example, if you find weeds under the tree, you must pull them out in time. It is best not to use pesticides to weed. In order to prevent damage to the cicada, it is recommended that you use manual weeding.

6. Inspection

Every week or so, go to the woods to observe the growth of cicadas to avoid any unexpected situations. The most important thing to observe is whether there are ants or other natural enemies nearby. If found, you must use drugs that are harmless to the cicada to eliminate them. There may be a lot of ants in some areas, so it is necessary to apply pesticides around the edges of the forest to form an isolation zone, and the pesticide must be sprayed again after each rain.

7. Harvest

After burying the eggs for 2-3 years, the cicada will gradually grow and mature. It is generally best to harvest during the summer solstice, especially after the rain, when cicadas will come out of the ground at 4 to 5 a.m. and find branches to crawl up. Between 2 and 4 o'clock, they will shed their skin and become cicadas. If the rains have not arrived for a long time, you can water the artificial breeding grounds to induce the cicada monkeys to come out of the ground.
