What to do if the leaves of the fortune tree turn yellow and have spots

What to do if the leaves of the fortune tree turn yellow and have spots

1. Disease problem

Cause: The spots and yellowing of its leaves are usually caused by infection with diseases, the most common of which is leaf spot. When the disease occurs, yellow or white spots will appear on the leaves, seriously affecting growth.

Solution: If infected with leaf spot disease, pay attention to controlling the density and ventilate and supplement light frequently. After each rain, drain the rainwater in the potting soil in time. In addition, appropriate amount of topdressing should be applied to improve immunity. If you want to cure the disease completely, you need to spray carbendazim on the affected area.

2. Reduce light

Reason: Although it likes light, it is afraid of strong sunlight, especially the afternoon sun in summer. If exposed to strong sunlight, the leaves will be sunburned and turn yellow.

Solution: In summer, the plant should be moved indoors for maintenance and placed in a place with sufficient diffuse light. This will provide additional light without damaging the plant.

3. Apply fertilizer appropriately

Reason: If a large amount of fertilizer is applied during maintenance, its roots will not be able to absorb it, but will cause damage and lead to rot. The leaves will lose vitality and will turn yellow and dry up later.

Solution: If excessive fertilizer is applied, water the soil as soon as possible to allow the diluted fertilizer to flow out with the water. When the situation is serious, new soil should be replaced and maintenance should be carried out again.
