What to do if rose leaves turn yellow

What to do if rose leaves turn yellow

Improper watering

Roses like a humid environment and are afraid of waterlogging. Improper watering, too dry or too wet, will affect root growth and cause yellowing of leaves.

Solution: Water according to weather conditions from early spring budding to flowering, generally water 3 to 4 times to keep the soil moist. Reducing watering will affect the number of flowers. Water 2 to 3 times during summer droughts and 2 to 3 times in autumn, ensuring that water does not accumulate near the roots.

Improper fertilization

Roses are usually fertilized in autumn. If fertilizer is applied too early, it will affect the growth of the roots. In addition, the amount of fertilizer also has an impact. Too much fertilizer will burn the roots, while too little fertilizer will cause insufficient nutrients, which will cause the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: Do not apply fertilizer immediately after planting. If the rose is very weak, you can spray foliar fertilizer appropriately and then apply fertilizer in the soil in autumn. Such as urea and potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution, pay attention to the content of nitrogen fertilizer, do not overdo it, so as not to cause excessive growth of branches and leaves and affect flowering.

Diseases

The yellowing of rose leaves may also be a threat of disease. Common diseases include: black spot, powdery mildew, and rust. When the disease occurs, spots of varying degrees will appear on the leaves, and the leaves will lose their green color. In severe cases, the leaves may fall off.

Solution: No matter what kind of disease it is, once it occurs, it will cause serious damage to the rose, so prevention should be done in time. If the disease is found, deal with it in time and spray the corresponding pesticide once a week. Continuous spraying will have better results.
