How to make mint stems and leaves thick and how to trim them

1. How to make mint stems and leaves thick

1. Get more sun: If you want the stems and leaves of mint to be thick, the most effective way is to get more sun. Under sufficient light conditions, the mint can fully carry out photosynthesis, the stems will be short and strong, and the leaves will be emerald green. In the absence of light, mint will grow too tall, have thin stems and yellow leaves.

2. Moderate temperature: When growing mint at home, it is best to ensure that the maintenance temperature is above 15℃. If it is lower than 15℃, the mint will grow slowly, and if it is lower than 10℃, the mint will stop growing. Therefore, if you want the mint stems and leaves to be thick, it is best to give it a higher temperature.

3. Water appropriately

Mint likes water, but don't water it too frequently, otherwise the soil will be moist for a long time, and the base of the mint stems will turn black and rot. Over time, it will also be prone to small black flying insects, so you must water it when the soil is dry and when it is wet. When you feel the soil in the pot become noticeably lighter when you hold it, water it thoroughly.

4. Apply thin fertilizer frequently

The roots of mint grow vigorously, but there is only a little soil in the pot, so the nutrition is definitely not enough. Therefore, during the growth period of mint, you must apply thin fertilizer frequently and water it with nutritionally balanced liquid fertilizer every half a month to ensure that the stems and leaves of the mint are strong.

How to prune mint

Mint grows very fast. If it is not pruned and harvested regularly, the branches and leaves of the mint will become old and grow in a messy and poor manner. At this time, we just need to use scissors to shave the mint, leaving a few centimeters of stems, cut off all the stems and leaves above the ground, and let it grow again.
