How to save chive seeds

The flowering period of leek is from May to October every year. After the leek blooms, you will see the seeds exposed. When the color turns darker, you can harvest it. Choose plump and good quality leek for sowing.

How to plant chive seeds

Chives are generally sown in spring, which can be done from March to May. If sown in summer, it is better to do it early rather than late. It is a perennial vegetable and autumn sowing is very suitable. In Shandong area, it is generally done in September.

4 to 5 days before sowing leeks, you can soak the seeds in warm water at about 30℃ in advance, wash them clean, take them out, wrap them in gauze, and place them at a temperature of 15 to 20℃ for germination. Change the water once a day. The sprouts will appear in about 3 to 4 days. At this time, you can sow them. Deeply plow the soil in advance, apply enough base fertilizer, sprinkle the seeds into the ditch, compact them, and water them thoroughly.
