How does the lotus survive the winter? At what temperature will it freeze to death?

How does the lotus survive the winter? At what temperature will it freeze to death?

1. How to spend the winter

1. Maintain the temperature: The container for the bowl lotus to grow is relatively small and has poor cold resistance, so good warming measures must be taken in winter. Around November every year, the temperature gradually drops and the water lily can be moved indoors. If there is heating indoors, the temperature requirements can basically be met. If there is no heating in the room and the temperature is low for a long time, you can put a plastic bag on the water lily to keep it warm.

2. Proper watering: Although it is a cold winter, it is still necessary to provide appropriate watering and prevent the soil in the pot from being too dry. You can water it appropriately to replenish humidity, and choose to water it during the warm midday. The water cannot be used right after it is collected. It needs to be dried in advance and the water temperature should be kept close to the room temperature.

3. Appropriate fertilization: Fertilizing the plants once before winter can enhance the plants' resistance to cold. In winter, you don’t need to apply top dressing fertilizer, or you can apply some fertilizer appropriately.

4. Adequate sunlight: Bowl lotus needs sufficient sunlight. The light intensity decreases in winter, so it needs more sunlight. It can be grown in a place with good light, on a sunny windowsill.

2. How many degrees will freeze to death

If the water layer is shallow and the temperature is below 5 degrees Celsius for a long time, you may get frostbite. If it is below 0 degrees Celsius for a long time, you may freeze to death.
