What kind of plant is the iron tree and how to plant its seeds

1. What is the plant?

The scientific name of the iron tree is Cycas revoluta, a gymnosperm belonging to the Cycadaceae family and the Cycas genus. It is also called Phoenix tail banana, Phoenix tail pine, Phoenix tail iron, etc. The distribution area of the cycad tree is very wide. In addition to my country, it is also distributed in Japan, Indonesia, the Philippines and other countries. The height of the iron tree is about one to two meters, and a few can reach about 8 meters. The stem is cylindrical, and the leaves grow from the top of the stem. They are very hard and leathery, and spread out like feathers. The cycad can also bloom, but it is rare.

2. How to plant seeds

1. Collecting seeds: The seeds of the iron tree will mature around October. After they mature, they can be harvested and planted immediately. The survival rate in the same year is very high.

2. Seed treatment: Prepare warm water at about 50℃, soak the seeds in the warm water for about 24 hours, then soak them in dilute sulfuric acid for about 10-15 minutes, then take them out, wash them with clean water, and place them aside to dry for sowing.

3. Prepare the soil: Prepare a suitable flower pot, the material should be breathable and have drainage holes at the bottom. Fill the flowerpot with loose and breathable nutrient soil, then sow the seeds in it and cover them with a thin layer of soil about 2 cm thick.
