Succulents are fleshy plants, a general term for a type of plants. They are named because their roots, stems, leaves and other parts are round, thick, and juicy, and they are unique, unique, and cute, which makes them different from ordinary flowers and plants. They are deeply loved by flower lovers. So what season is suitable for planting succulents? Let’s learn more about it below. What season is suitable for planting succulents? Succulents are planted in spring and autumn because the climate is mild and the temperature is suitable in these two seasons, making it easier for succulents to survive after planting. What are the conditions for growing succulents? 1. Soil The basic requirements of succulents for soil are: loose and breathable, with good drainage and water retention, containing a certain amount of humus, moderate particle size, no fine dust, and slightly acidic or neutral (a few species can be slightly alkaline). 2. Lighting Succulents generally prefer bright light, but overexposure to strong sunlight may cause the leaves to turn yellow or become sunburned. The best option is to provide plenty of indirect sunlight, such as placement next to a south-facing window. 3. Temperature Succulent plants are sensitive to temperature. A higher temperature is required during the growing period, the minimum temperature should not be lower than 18℃, and 25-35℃ is most suitable. The lowest temperature that can be tolerated in winter varies with the species. Most can tolerate temperatures as low as 6-10℃ in dry dormancy, while heat-loving species cannot tolerate temperatures lower than 12-18℃. 4. Ventilation The quality of ventilation conditions directly determines the health of succulents. If the ventilation of the maintenance environment is poor, then in addition to being very prone to leaf waterlogging and root rot and black rot during the acclimatization period and normal maintenance, succulents are also particularly susceptible to sooty mold disease when the temperature is high in summer. When one pot of succulents is infected, the succulents next to it will also be in trouble. 5. Moisture The principle of replenishing water for succulents is: water when the soil is dry, don’t water when it is not dry, and water thoroughly when it is completely dry. Generally, water the plants in the evening or at night to prevent water evaporation in a high temperature environment. When watering, water the plants from the roots, not the leaves. 6. Nutrients Succulents do not require too much nutrients, and maintaining a normal frequency of soil changes can basically ensure the nutritional supply of succulents. Therefore, when potting succulents, it is best to add some organic fertilizers to the soil where they are planted, such as leaf mold, chicken manure, earthworm castings, bone meal, etc. In general, succulents are suitable for planting in warm spring and autumn, but there are many varieties of succulents, and the growth habits of different varieties are also different. Just be sure to distinguish the specific planting time and related light, temperature and other conditions.
