How to grow Aquilegia

How to grow Aquilegia

1. Planting time

Aquilegia prefers a cool growing environment, and the suitable temperature for growth is around 20 degrees. The planting time can be chosen in March-April each year, or in August-September in autumn.

2. Prepare the soil

If you want to grow Aquilegia in a pot, you can choose a larger pot made of a more breathable material. The soil can be mixed with sandy soil and leaf mold. The prepared soil has good air permeability and drainage, and is rich in nutrients, which can promote the germination and growth of seeds. You can apply a little base fertilizer as appropriate.

3. Seed Processing

Go to a seed store to buy good seeds, select seeds that are full and plump, and free of pests and diseases, remove shriveled and damaged seeds, and increase the germination rate. Soaking the seeds in warm water can remove the waxy layer on the outside, which will make it easier for the seeds to germinate.

4. Start sowing

Spray water on the soil appropriately, then spread the seeds evenly on it, and cover it with a thin layer of soil to ensure that the seeds are not visible.

5. Post-management

After planting, you need to water it once a day to keep the soil moist, keep the temperature within an appropriate range, and provide appropriate exposure to scattered light but not strong sunlight to promote the seeds to germinate and grow as quickly as possible.
