Money tree cutting propagation method and precautions

Introduction to Money Tree Propagation

Money tree is a perennial evergreen herb and also an ornamental foliage plant. It is generally propagated by cuttings, division, and leaf cuttings.

How to propagate money tree by cuttings

Money tree is generally propagated by cuttings. The success rate of cuttings is highest in spring and autumn, mainly because the temperature and humidity are suitable at this time, and cuttings can make the branches begin to sprout. It is best to choose a sunny afternoon. The specific cutting method of money tree is as follows:

1. First, remove the tender branches about 10 cm in length from the roots of the Money Tree, remove the leaves at the base, leaving only a few leaves on the top. The incision can be made obliquely to increase the contact area with the soil and make it take root as soon as possible. You can also apply rooting powder on the incision, which will help increase the chance of rooting and germination, and is also beneficial to the growth of Money Tree branches.

2. Before cutting, you need to choose a suitable substrate, otherwise it will affect its rooting and germination. You can mix peat soil, garden soil, coarse sand, and organic fertilizer. Such a substrate is loose and fertile, which can provide sufficient nutrients for the growth of the plant, and it can also ensure permeability and reduce water accumulation and root rot.

3. Insert the branches into the soil, compact it, and place it under diffuse light for maintenance. Wait for about 2 months. In this way, the branches can take root in the soil. You can apply organic fertilizer in time. If the temperature is too high or too low, you can stop fertilizing.

Money tree cuttings precautions

Money tree likes loose and fertile soil, and the pH value of the soil should be between 6 and 6.5. It is relatively drought-resistant but not water-resistant. Water it once a week in spring, once every 3 days in summer, and once every half a month or a month in winter. If the summer temperature is above 35 degrees, shade is needed, and the wintering temperature should be above 10 degrees.
