Loquats are delicious and have high nutritional value. In addition to being eaten fresh, the loquat flesh can also be made into canned syrup or used to make wine. Many people want to grow loquats. Let’s learn about the planting method of loquat seedlings . 1. Planting time In areas with cold winters, loquats should be planted in spring to avoid frost damage. Winters in most parts of the south are relatively warm, so planting can be carried out from September to March of the following year, but the best time for planting is October-November. The climate and temperature are suitable at this time, which is conducive to the rooting of loquats after transplanting and improves the survival rate. 2. Seedling treatment Before planting loquat seedlings, they must be soaked in fungicides such as carbendazim for 15-30 minutes, and the seedlings should be soaked to more than 10 cm from the grafting point to increase the survival rate. When planting, 1/2-2/3 of all leaves should be cut off, and all tender shoots should be cut off. 3. Planting When planting loquat seedlings , dig a 10cm deep hole, spread out the loquat roots, plant them in the hole, bury the roots with fine soil, and water them thoroughly to help them take root. 4. Fertilization When fertilizing young loquat trees, the principle of applying fertilizer thinly and frequently should be followed. From the time the plants survive after planting to the first fertilization during germination, you can apply quick-acting nitrogen fertilizer, phosphorus fertilizer, and clean manure as the main fertilizer. Thereafter, fertilize once every month until October. For the first application, apply 2.5 kg of urea, 5 kg of superphosphate, and 250 kg of clean manure per mu, and then increase it month by month. 5. Insecticide After the loquat seedlings are planted and germinate in spring, use potassium dihydrogen phosphate plus Yunda 120 or Yuntaisu to kill bacteria and insects every 10 days or so from April to May, and spray continuously 4-5 times. This technical measure is extremely critical to improving the survival rate of seedlings. 6. Watering Summer drought has a serious impact on the growth and development of loquat seedlings, especially in August and September. If the weather is dry, watering is required to resist drought. 7. Pruning Young trees (1-3 years old) are generally not pruned to allow them to grow more branches. In addition to allowing the main branches to grow at a predetermined angle, the remaining branches can be twisted or ringed when the new shoots stop growing in July. Flatten the non-main branches extending from the central trunk to promote early flowering, and appropriately thin out the overcrowded branches in the second and third years. That’s it |
