Growth habits of Ping An bamboo

Ping'an bamboo is a plant of the genus Bambusa. It can reach a height of 1 to 2 meters. The bamboo stalks are slender and more cold-resistant than lucky bamboo. It is widely distributed in China. Ping'an bamboo is generally propagated by division. Those that bloom in spring should be divided in autumn, and those that bloom in autumn should be divided in spring.

How to grow Pingan bamboo

1. Lighting

Peace bamboo is a light-loving plant. It is suitable for growing in places with good light and is relatively shade-tolerant. However, if the maintenance environment is dark, it will not grow vigorously. It still needs appropriate shade at noon in summer, or be moved indoors for maintenance for a period of time.

2. Temperature

Peace bamboo likes a warm growing environment. It is best to provide a temperature between 22-30℃, and the minimum temperature cannot be as low as 10℃, otherwise the plant will be frozen. It can be moved indoors for maintenance in winter.

3. Pot soil

Peace bamboo prefers acidic soil and cannot be planted in alkaline soil. In addition, it is best to keep the soil loose, fertile, and well-drained.

4. Watering

Peace bamboo prefers a relatively humid environment and needs to be watered thoroughly each time, but it cannot tolerate waterlogging. You need to control the amount of watering and feel the soil with your hand to determine whether it is watered thoroughly. After entering autumn, try to water as little as possible.

5. Fertilization

If you want the peace bamboo to grow healthily, you need to apply fertilizer to the soil in time, or spray some foliar fertilizer on the leaves. If the nutrition is sufficient, the plant can grow more vigorously. During the growing season, you can apply thin fertilizer once a month, and do not use concentrated fertilizer.

6. Pruning

Peace bamboo is a foliage tree species. In spring, branches that grow too long can be pruned short to control plant height and promote the sprouting of side branches. In addition, the tops of the main trunk or side branches can be removed to allow the plant to have more branches. Appropriately thin out dense and crossed branches and leaves to increase ventilation and light transmission, thereby improving the overall ornamental effect.

Things to note when growing Ping An bamboo

During the period of water cultivation of peace bamboo, change the water every 3-4 days. It is best to use well water or purified water. Tap water needs to be left to stand for 1-2 days in advance. It is best to keep it in a place where air conditioners and electric fans cannot reach. This can prevent the tips and edges of the leaves from drying out. If the roots are rotten, trim the rotten parts in time and soak them in a solution of thiophanate-methyl for 30 minutes.
